Another MMO bites the dust this year.

So far, this year's body count is:
Hellgate
Tabula Rasa
Shadowbane
and now Matrix online

Did I forget any?

Aion might be on the horizon for that list. The community are in a very...err "delicate" state atm.

Unless some serious changes are made it could very well crash and burn upon NA/EU release.

*sigh* so many people trying to get a slice of the pie, so many failing.

No. The Matrix was always dead.

Al the games on that list, including the Matrix, deserved to die. They all offered great promise and were overhyped, only to be buggy, limited POS's when they were released.

I've heard RF Online was closing down too, but that's a F2P so I don't know if that counts.

Average grind game with meh graphics.

the fact that aion has over 3.5million paying accounts so far in china/koera alone i doudt that..

i except aionto give wow a run for ther emoney long iwth a coupl eof games

I hope Aion becomes "the new WoW." If nothing else, it has good graphics and well... I'm a bit spiteful that WoW has done so well with such horrible graphics, myself. So, I hope they are taken off their throne and if not by Aion, then another (with good graphics).

That's a tricky call for them because if they release it too early, it could hurt their WoW subscriptions and if they wait too long someone else could theoretically come in and steal their thunder...

That's why WoW's been so successful in the first place: the lower the requirements, the higher the subscriptions. I'm not gonna stay subscribed to a game if it's optimized well enough.

As to the OP: I had no idea the Matrix Online still had servers, wow...

Nothing is going to hurt WoW any time soon except a problem within WoW itself; not even a new product from Blizzard. Recent events in the MMO world have more than proven this.
